A House Of Order

 " Behold, mine house is a house of order saith the Lord God, and not a house of confusion."

                                                                                          D&C 132:8


Our 1st Family Home Evening/ Family Study was on " A house of order." With us now being a family Guy and myself decided that we must set our house in order so everyone knows what is expected of them as well as what part they play in the family. 

As parents we want to raise happy,healthy,responsible children who love the Lord and are willing to serve others. 

Guy conducted our little Family Home Evening lesson and did a marvelous job with this being his first time. 

* Heavenly Father gives us directions out of his great LOVE

* Follow the same pattern within our home, so they too may become a house of order

* The Lord has given responsibilities to both PARENTS & CHILDREN

Parents Responsiblites

* Preside

* Teach the gospel

* Be an example

Childrens Responsiblites

* Obey

* Honor Parents

* Contribute

All of these things help in making your home a house of order. Guy went through and talked to each one of the children asking what they think they could do in our home to help our home run smoother. 

Alexander said he would be "kind to others." 
Lindsey said she would " have no attitude" & " be an example to her brothers"
Anthony said he would "do things without being asked" & " follow directions the 1st time"


Guy and I had them write them down on a piece of paper, as this week progresses we are going to check them off as we see them doing the acts they stated would help make our home run smoother. 
We also explained to them that Guy is now the head of the house hold and his directions/orders ( he hates using the word order) are to be followed just as if I was giving them.  If he is not around then the order falls upon mom to be head of the house hold and this is even if there is a priesthood holder living in the home ( mama still the one to preside over the family.) This is one thing that we struggle with at times, the children get the idea that they don't have to listen to him or follow his rules. As Guy and I joined our hands in marriage we also joined our deep desire to be each others mate in all aspects and this includes raising children. 

The Lord has given us directions to have Family Home Evening in our homes. I have struggled with this from time to time being a single mother for so long or not having the support that I have needed to fulfill this requirement. I am so blessed to now have a husband who is willing and wanting to do this, knowing how important it is to have study with our family once a week. I am thankful that we have the same basic core values on how to raise a family, how to treat others and come together as one.
