Winter Wonderland

SNOW & SNOW

As I opened our back door Saturday morning this is what I saw!
The snow was all the way up to the door jam, which actually opening the door was hard.

This is the sidewalk after it had been snowed plowed.
Our railing & stairs were no where to be found!

This is the front porch with a few indention's of feet.

Even the bushes were getting hidden by this amazing whiteness!
Right now we can see them, but towards the end of it all
THEY WERE NO WHERE TO BE FOUND!

Car's are apparently coming in white & black now.
This was after it was cleaned off once!

This ended up being our transportation for the rest of the day!

What an amazing storm we had. The whole town was covered with this amazing whiteness!

There was no going anywhere unless you were planning on driving 10 mph, slipping and sliding, or if you really really had to be somewhere!

I attempted to travel to work that morning. I kept hearing of the locals talk about getting ready for the snow storm and buying ALL the necessity's for awhile, since this was going to be a big one. I on the other hand was of course thinking to myself yeah sure, o.k. I grew up in UTAH how could this be any different?

Oh, it's different alright! The Department of Transportation does not clean the roads till it is all done and said, which meant they were not going to be plowing the roads till late Saturday morning or early Sunday. Which means no one is going anywhere unless they want to battle the snow that was consistently coming down 1 inch per hour for 13 hours straight. As I said I attempted to get to work that morning, I drove to the south end of town crawling along at a mere 20 mph knowing I had 20 miles to work. I called Guy and told him I was turning around there is no way I was going to get to work today or even Sunday for that matter.

Watching the snow fall was lovely. But finally after hours and hours of it I was done, ready to get on with my day but of course Mother Nature had other plans for those of us living here in PA.

Guy on the other hand was loving it. He had just been itching to get the 4 wheeler out of the garage and since they had declared a snow emergency he could take it on public roads. He was out cruising around with Alexander, than myself. We went to the local gas station to get gas for the snow plow and the 4 wheeler. He plowed and plowed all day long, making a dent in the 2 feet of snow that had graced us.

I loved to watch the snow fall. To see it grace the earth with such beauty and being pure white, and a WHITE CHRISTMAS!
